What is Hubdoc?
Hubdoc is document and data capture software owned by Xero. It collects your bills and receipts in one place, reads the key information from each one and turns it into a transaction in your accounting software, with the original document attached. It syncs with Xero and QuickBooks Online.
Is Hubdoc free?
Yes, if you use Xero. Xero’s UK pricing terms say Hubdoc is included in the Simple, Ignite, Grow, Comprehensive and Ultimate plans, as long as it’s connected to your Xero subscription. Without Xero, Hubdoc’s own pricing page lists a 30-day free trial, then US$12 a month.

Pros and cons
Pros:
No extra cost if you already use Xero
Several ways to capture - phone, email, upload or scanner
Unlimited documents
Easy to share with your accountant
Keeps the original document attached to the transaction
Cons:
Only worth it if you use Xero or QuickBooks Online
Reads the key fields only - supplier, amount, invoice number and due date
Standalone price is in US dollars, so the cost in pounds moves with the exchange rate
Fewer integrations than AutoEntry or Dext
Not built specifically for the UK
Who is Hubdoc best for?
If you use Xero, Hubdoc is the obvious place to start with receipt capture, because you’re already paying for it. It covers the basics well and saves buying a separate tool. If you don’t use Xero or QuickBooks Online, there’s little reason to choose it. And if you need line items, bank statement extraction or a wider choice of accounting software, AutoEntry and Dext do more.
